There’s so much to be thankful for this Christmas; a screaming 1 year old, a hyperactive 4 year old, two stressed out parents who are exhausted… wait! What am I saying? Yes, it’s that time of year when everyone is at their limit! No matter what your situation, know that you are loved by the very King of Kings, the Mighty God who came down from Heaven to be born on Christmas day. He loves you and he has a good plan for your life!
I’m thankful for Christmas because it reminds me that I am not alone, because He is always with me. I’m thankful for my perfect, imperfect family. I’m thankful that I can bring love, joy and peace to others not only at this time of year, but all year ’round.
This Christmas and going forward, I want to start noticing opportunities to be kind. I want to keep peace in my heart and live passionately with joy in all circumstances. Is that even possible? It’s certainly worth a try!
Immediately I start thinking about implementing this mentality with day to day strangers, but what about starting with my own family? How often have I completely lost it when one by one, things happen and the day digresses into a chaotic mess? Living a life of thankfulness is a challenge I accept! I want to see with new eyes and see the beauty around me, especially in my day to day routine of laundry spilled over the couch, Cheerios scattered all over my kitchen floor and toilet bowls needing to be cleaned.
What are you thankful for? Blessings this Christmas and in the New Year to come!
