As I reflected on Easter Sunday this morning there was a character quality of God’s that brought me to tears.
All of hell tried to rid themselves of Jesus and on a Friday about 2000 years ago, they celebrated His death while His disciples mourned in utter grief. We now call it Good Friday because we know the end of the story. As Phil Wickham sings “Friday is good cuz Sunday is coming”.
What I can’t get over though is that on Sunday the tomb was empty and Jesus appeared to hundreds of eye witnesses! Satan had given it his best shot so much that all of darkness thought they had won, but all along God was using Jesus’ death to save humanity from their sins. By coming back from the grave after attaining this… do you see what this means?? Jesus is UNSTOPABLE! Death and the grave could not hold him, Satan’s “victory” turned out to be Jesus’ ultimate victory!
What does the unstoppableness of Jesus mean in my life and yours? That he will pursue us at all costs! You can turn your back on Him, but He will continue to find you. All of Jesus children WILL be accounted for at the resurrection of the church (the rapture). He will not be missing even one.
When He says He is coming back, as you have probably heard by now, at least once, it’s because He IS coming and nothing will stop him from rescuing his Bride (the church) from this evil world.
Yes, looking around the world, again, Satan appears to have the final victory. There is so much corruption, evil, suffering and torment, but have you ever thought God again has a phenomenal miracle up his sleeve?
Jesus will not be stopped, He will come and the more evil we see here on earth, the more the purity and light of Jesus shines around us. He’s like the only lamp in a dark, cold room. Everyone sees him but some are afraid the light will expose the ugliness of their hearts if they get too close to hold that lamp. They don’t want their dirtiness to be seen, so they stay back.
And yet there are still some who, although they fear this same thing, they see the warmth of the flame and they are afraid to be in the darkness without the light as their guide. The lamp offers security, peace of mind and sure footing. The lamp shows them the way.
Wherever you find yourself this Sunday, Happy Easter. He has risen. He has risen indeed.
One day Jesus will come back to gather His own from a dark world to rescue us and bring us home. One day very soon. Don’t lose heart! Jesus is coming soon!
