It is a good time of remembrance to take a look at life. What has worked out, what hasn’t. Has it really been all for the good, as God promises us?
Sometimes the things we want most seem so out of sight, so impossible. But surely there are some things we’ve prayed for that have come to pass. It’s easy to focus on what we lack, but there is so much good that God has done, and what isn’t done, is not finished. Not yet.
For some it may be the small things that remind us God is faithful, for others, some of those big ticket items we prayed for are coming to pass, even right now. Whether big or small, God cares about our desires, He wants to give us the good things in life, and our job is to see Him working. Whether big or small.
He remembers that time you asked for AB and C. He remembers the tears, He remembers the pain. What is sown in tears is reaped in joy. In the mean time though, it is important to be thankful and worship.
Gratitude and worship are two of God’s favourite things to see from His children while we are in the waiting. It shows we trust Him. Just the other day, God gave me a bit of a stern word. I wanted to change some habits that were troublesome. I was crying because I kept going around the same mountain with them and He told me to stop falling into self pity and coming into agreement with the enemy’s nonsense!
I’m not saying that is the same for you. What you are going through might be a lot more serious than merely trying to change a stubborn habit, and God has compassion for those who are broken-hearted. My point is that even with the most difficult of situations, gratitude and worship go a long way.
Last month I went through the worst thing I have ever faced in my life. It was horrific and painful and I was weeping all the time. But in the midst of it, God gave me the strength to give thanks and worship. And maybe if you find you don’t have the strength, you can ask God for his strength as well. Gratitude goes such a long way to alleviate pain and suffering. It’s not easy, but it is powerful.
I can testify that after that period of my life I had a major breakthrough and some of God’s promises to me came to pass. I had wanted a new car, it didn’t come the way I expected (I got in a car accident!), but God gave me a new car that I love.
Next, I may have mentioned this, I currently live in a basement apartment. However I felt God calling me to move for months. Nothing would work out when I would apply, but after this extremely dark period in my life, I now have a townhouse I was just accepted for. I move in less than 60 days!
Lastly, I had felt God moving me towards singing for about a year. I didn’t know why but in early January I made the goal to sing on the worship team at my church by the end of 2026. Well, God had other plans, and rather than waiting until the end of the year, He put me on the team by the end of January, only weeks after that thought had been planted in my mind!
I am so grateful for these big blessings, but even in the big blessings it’s important to remember the small blessings, the ones you thanked Him for in the waiting, that came to pass. It all works for God’s glory. When we think of God’s answers to prayer, when we think of God’s love for us even in the small things, how much more can we trust Him for the big things… the impossible things. The King of Heaven is our Father and He delights in giving us good things. But first we need to be faithful in the little. Give thanks, give praise and watch Him come through.
Many blessings,
Lindsey N.
